Samsung Galaxy S5 Active officially announced, now available from AT&T
Samsung Galaxy S5 beside being water and dust resistant, Samsung has earlier today officially launched the more rougher and tougher version of the Galaxy S5. Dubbed as Samsung Galaxy S5 Active, the smartphone is now official and is available from AT&T (telecom operator) in the United States. The Galaxy S5 Active comes in three colour options which include Titanium Gray, Ruby Red and Camo Green.
The Galaxy S5 Active features similar physical Android buttons and four screw caps on the corners at the back that Samsung used in its predecessor, the Galaxy S4 Active. The smartphone is water, dust and shock-proof with IP67 and MIL-STD 810G certification.
The phone also comes with an dedicated hardware button dubbed as Active Key , which can be customized to do various task using the Active Key menu in the settings. Like, a short press will launch Activity Zone app and a long press will launch the camera app. The Active Key also functions as a camera button and can be used to click images underwater, where the touch screen doesn't work.
The Galaxy S5 Active is now available for purchase from AT&T stores (brick-and-mortar and online) for $200 on-contract or for $715 off-contract. AT&T is also offering 50% discount on purchase of Gear Fit for those who buy the S5 Active now.
Talking about the specifications, the Galaxy S5 Active features similar specs as the Galaxy S5, which include a 5.1-inch Full HD Super AMOLED display, 2.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor, 2GB RAM, Android 4.4.2 KitKat, 16MP rear camera with LED flash, 2.1MP front facing camera, 16GB internal storage with microSD card support and 2,800 mAh battery.
