Xiaomi Redmi 2 and Mi Pad launched in India for Rs. 6,999 and Rs. 12,999

Xiaomi back in March officially launched the successor of Redmi 1S in the Indian market called the Xiaomi Redmi 2. Along with Redmi 2, the vendor also announced the launch of the Xiaomi Mi Pad tablet in the country. Xiaomi Redmi 2 was originally announced earlier this year, whereas the Mi Pad is almost a year old

Both the Redmi 2 and the Mi Pad are available in India in only white color. Xiaomi has launched the Redmi 2 in India for Rs. 6,999. On the other hand, the Xiaomi Mi Pad is priced at Rs. 12,999. Both the devices are now available through Flipkart without any registration.

Xiaomi has also announced that the enhanced version of Redmi 2 with 2GB RAM and 16 gig of storage, along with thinner 5,000 mAh and 10,000 mAh power bank as well as the 16,000 mAh power bank will be launched in India soon. 

Talking about the Redmi 2 first, the smartphone comes with a 4.7-inch HD IPS display with AGC Dragontrail Glass protection, 1.2GHz quad-core 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 (MSM8916) processor, Adreno 306 GPU, 1GB RAM and Android 4.4.4 KitKat with MIUI 6 on top. The smartphone measures 134 x 67.2 x 9.4 mm and weights 134 grams.

Other specifications include an 8MP rear camera with LED flash, 2MP front facing camera, 8GB internal storage with expandable up to 32GB using microSD card and 2200 mAh battery. Connectivity series include dual-SIM support, with each slot capable of 4G LTE connectivity (TDD-LTE & FDD-LTE support), 3G HSPA+, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, USB OTG and A-GPS.

On the other hand, the Xiaomi Mi Pad packs a 7.9-inch display boasting a screen resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels and 326 ppi pixel density with Coring Gorilla Glass 3 protection, 2.2GHz NVIDIA Tegra K1 processor with Kepler GPU with 192 cores, 2GB of RAM and Android 4.4.2 KitKat based MIUI 6.0 ROM that is optimized for tablets.

The imaging department is taken care of by an 8MP primary camera with Sony BSI sensor alongside a 5MP secondary camera with OmniVision sensor. For storage, the tablet packs 16GB of native storage space that can be extended externally up to 128GB with the help of a microSD card.

Other goodies on-board include dual Band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.0 and 6,700 mAh battery that can last up to for 11 hours of video playback and 86 hours of music playing. The Mi Pad is 8.5mm thick and weights 360 grams.
