Google Play Edition devices are the one which comes with stock vanilla Android, similar to Nexus devices, though different.Since quite sometime, there has been some mystery going on about the number of handsets listed on the Play Store as they were mostly running out of stock. Following the same, the Google Play Editions of various devices are now vanished from the store listing expect for three devices.

LG G Pad 8.3 Google Play Edition

Google has officially removed the Play Edition models of HTC One (M7), Sony Z Ultra and LG G Pad 8.3 from the Play Store and they will not appear under the Play Edition devices anymore. However, three more devices including Samsung Galaxy S4, Moto G and HTC One (M8) are still listed.

Among this trio, the Galaxy S4 has also been running out of stock for over three weeks and we expect the device to be removed as well. Also, the Galaxy S5 has been around in the market for many months, but still we have not seen a Play Edition model of the same.

While there is no concrete reason for the extinction of the Play Edition devices from the Google Play Store, it remains a mystery. However, the entire tech world is flooding with rumors regarding the Android Silver program and probably this could be the reason for the deprecation of the Google Play Edition devices.
