Google Play Edition devices are the one which comes with stock vanilla Android, similar to Nexus devices, though different.Since quite sometime, there has been some mystery going on about the number of handsets listed on the Play Store as they were mostly running out of stock. Following the same, the Google Play Editions of various devices are now vanished from the store listing expect for three devices.

Update: After rolling out 4.4.2 update to HTC One and LG G Pad 8.3 Google Play Editions, Google has today started rolling the same update to Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Play Edition. The update is available for download via OTA, and weighs in at 57.4MB.
According to Android Police, the update for Galaxy S4 GPE brings inclusion of the "Home Screen Tips" widget, which was part of stock Gingerbread build. Also, the HSPA/HSPA+ connections are being displayed as "3G" in the signal indicator rather than "H" like it had in the 4.2.2 and 4.3 builds.
You can download the update from here and flash it manually, only if you aren't interested in waiting for the OTA notification.

After rolling out Android 4.4 KitKat update for HTC One Google Play Edition yesterday, Google has now officially announced that the Galaxy S4 GPE will also get the update starting today, any time now. The news was reported by a post by Android Google+ account this morning. The update will reach your smartphone automatically, but you can still check for it manually by going to Settings > About Phone > Software Update.

After launching Android 4.3 Jelly Bean last month, Google is back to their updating process. The company started rolling out the Android 4.3 update for all Nexus devices last month and recently the company has started rolling out Android 4.3 update for their Google Play Edition devices. The update is rolling out for Samsung Galaxy S4 and HTC One Google Play Edition smartphones. As usual, the update are released via OTA (over-the-air).

The Google Edition of Samsung Galaxy S4 & HTC One are already up for pre-order on Google Play Store for $649 and $599 respectively. The smartphones are running the latest stock Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean on them with some new customizations. Not only some customizations are observed on these models but some new leaked images have also hit the web, which shows that Samsung & Google together might through a new update on Google Edition Galaxy S4 soon, which will bring the unleashed Android 4.3 Jelly Bean.

Google has started taking orders of newly announced Samsung Galaxy S4 & HTC One Google Edition on Google Play from yesterday. As promised, both the devices are up on Google Play Store for order. Currently the devices are only available in United States and no information regarding international availability is known. Google is selling HTC One Nexus Edition for $599, whereas Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Edition will costs $649.
