Motorola has planned to host an event on September 5 in India and it is evident that the firm will be launching those devices that will be announced at the September 4 event in Chicago in the country. In the meantime, one of the highly anticipated smartphones from the manufacturer – the sequel to the Moto G has been spotted in the import data tracking site Zauba by PriceBaba. As per these details, Motorola has imported over 70,000 units of the handset codenamed Moto XT1068 to India tipping the immediate availability of the device.
Besides revealing the model number, the branding of the handset in the listing reveals Moto G indicating that it is the successor of Moto G. Moreover, unlike in the previous rumors this smartphone is tipped to be called new Moto G instead of Moto G2.
In addition to the report, the retail box of the new Moto G has been leaked online. The box image was snapped inside the Flipkart warehouse in India. If you are unaware, Flipkart exclusively sells all the Motorola devices in the country.
Along with the packaging, Akshat Mittal, who leaked the image on his Google+ profile has also revealed that the 16GB variant of new Moto G will be priced at just Rs. 11,999 and the 32GB variant will be priced at just Rs. 14,999, or Rs. 1,000 less for each.
Moreover, a leaked screenshot by Phandroid, shows that the sequel to the Moto X smartphone slated to be unveiled on September 4 will be called ‘new Moto X’ and not Moto X+1 as rumoured. The source also notes that this moniker has been referenced on rebate forms, cases and other internal documents. The screenshot reveals that the White / Bamboo variants of this phone will be available normally and not exclusively via Moto Maker.
Furthermore, TK Tech News has revealed two images of the upcoming Moto X successor showing its front and back design. At the front, the loudspeaker is positioned below the display as on the Moto E, but it is not clear if the one above the display is an earpiece or a second loudspeaker. Also, there are four sensors in each of the corners of the new Moto X making it similar to Amazon Fire, but the functionality of these sensors remain unknown.
Coming to the back panel, there is a camera with an outsized Motorola logo that can double as a power button as we cannot see one at the side.
This particular leak reveals the new Moto X with wood finish back and aluminum frame at the sides. The source claims that the device will be available in a slew of back material options including denim, leather, wood, plastic and carbon fiber to mention a few with the last one being exclusive to Verizon.
As mentioned above, the Motorola event is slated to happen on September 4 at Chicago and these smartphones along with the Moto 360 Android Wear based smartwatch will be unveiled then shedding light on all the aspects that remain a mystery.
