Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update for Samsung Galaxy Grand Duos rolling out in India

Samsung has started rolling out the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update for Galaxy Grand Duos in India today. The news was reported by AndroidOS, and according to them, the update is rolling out via both, Kies application for desktop and over-the-air (OTA). The update for Galaxy Grand Duos was first live in Russia last month, and India is the second country to get the 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update for Galaxy Grand Duos.

Look's like Samsung is playing with all its followers and users. Samsung has just released the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update for Samsung Galaxy Grand Duos today in Russia. According to Sammobile, the update is currently live only in Russia and it may take some time to reach out other countries as well. The update brings updated build number, which is I9105PXXUBMG8. The new build number is newer than the build that was leaked last month.

Samsung India posted on its official Facebook page that it has started shipping Galaxy Grand from official e-store. Similarly third party stores are now also shipping this mid-range Phablet and we are getting reports about the brick & mortar store availability too. Samsung Announced Galaxy Grand with LTE & Quad-Core Processor

Samsung first announced the Galaxy Grand back in December. The handset was unveiled in two-versions — a single-SIM and a Dual-SIM Model. More recently however, Samsung has unveiled a third model. This latest is also dubbed a Galaxy Grand, however it brings an improved processor and speedier connectivity.

Samsung Galaxy Grand Duos vs Micromax A116 Canvas HD

In the last two days, we have seen two Android Phablet launches in the country. First one was Micromax’s A116 Canvas HD, a successor to A110 Canvas 2, while the other was Samsung’s Galaxy Grand Duos, first mid-range Android Phablet from the Korean Manufacturer.

Although Micromax has not revealed the exact official pricing of A116 Canvas HD (apart from the fact it is going to be Under Rs. 15K ), the street price difference is going to be over Rs. 5K between the Two Smartphones.

We thought it was a nice opportunity to compare both the smartphones and see where they stand. There are obvious branding advantages with Samsung, but then Micromax is giving a better feature set. Here is a look at specs comparison.

As you can see, Micromax is clearly a winner in the specs department and it is providing all these specifications at a much lower price. Even if you value Samsung brand very much, there are obvious issues with Galaxy Grand Duos, like a sub-par display resolution (if not HD, even qHD would have been better than WVGA). However, on the software customization front, Samsung is a winner. Company has included a lot nice software tweaks from Galaxy SIII and Note II in its Galaxy Grand Duos, like Multi-Window, Direct Call and Smart Stay. Even the new content offerings bouquet “My Services” is also a positive, but you can always get alternatives from Google Play.

So, you will have to decide, what the most important variables are for you at the time of your next Phablet Purchase.

Samsung India Introduces A Pack of ‘‘my Services’’

At the launch of Galaxy Grand, Samsung India yesterday also took the wraps off its new set of content offerings for mobile devices in the country. Dubbed as My Services, these content offerings will come pre-installed on Galaxy Grand.

According to a press release issued by Samsung, My Services bouquet apps like myMovies, myMusic , myMobileTV , myStation, myReader and myEducation. Here is a look at all these services and what they provide:

Samsung Confirmed the Launch of Galaxy Grand in India Tomorrow

Samsung has confirmed that they will Launch the Galaxy Grand in India tomorrow, January 22nd 2013. The company has started a New Contest that would let you stand a chance to win the phone, and the winners will be announced at the event. We have already Posted about the Conference which Samsung will do on 22nd January. The only Problem was the Launch of Galaxy Grand or Galaxy SIII MIni. And Yes today via Google ADS on my Site, I saw that Samsung is Going to Launch its Latest Galaxy Grand in India Tomorrow.

The Samsung Galaxy Grand was announced last month, that packs a 5-inch ( 800 x 480 Pixels ) Capacitive Touch Screen display, 1.2GHz Dual-Core Processor and Android 4.1 ( Jelly Bean ). Other features include, 8MP Auto Focus Camera with LED Flash, 1080p video recording and 2MP secondary camera, 1GB RAM, 8 GB internal memory and expandable up to 64GB with microSD.

Samsung India Launching Galaxy Grand or Galaxy SIII Mini ??

Samsung India has sent out invites for a press event on January 22 to launch “The Newest Galaxy” smartphone in the country. While the invite as such does not reveal which smartphone we are going to see at the launch, but blogosphere is abuzz with reports of Galaxy Grand unveiling.

Right now, there are two smartphones that can be expected to be revealed at the event – Galaxy Grand or Galaxy SIII Mini. Both part of mid-range segment, will be most likely carrying price tags around Rs. 20K - 25K.

To remind you, Samsung Galaxy Grand comes with Android 4.1.2, 5-inch WVGA display, 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 8MP rear camera, 2MP front camera, 1GB RAM, 8GB internal storage and 2,100 mAh battery. The phone comes in both single SIM and dual SIM variants, but it is very possible that we are going to see the debut of dual-SIM version in the country.

On the other hand, Samsung Galaxy SIII Mini features Android 4.1, 4.0-inch WVGA Super AMOLED display, 5MP rear camera, VGA front camera, 8/16GB ROM, 1GB RAM, microSD to 32GB, 1,500 mAh battery and dual-core 1GHz CPU.
