Motorola India has dropped the price of 2nd gen Moto G in the country earlier this month. Motorola launched the Moto G 2nd gen in India last year in September for Rs. 12,999. As the name suggests, the smartphone is the successor of highly popular Moto G. The 16GB variant of Moto G 2nd gen is now available from Flipkart for just Rs. 9,999.

After few soak tests, Motorola Mobility has finally started rolling out the much-awaited Android 5.0 Lollipop update for both the first and second generation Moto G smartphones in the country. The update is not only rolling out in India, but also in Brazil and in the U.S., but only for Moto G (2nd Gen).

Motorola is pretty swift in rolling out the Android updates to its offerings and the same was evident with the Android 4.4.4 KitKat update. Now, it appears like the vendor has surpassed Google by being the pioneer to rollout the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for Moto X (2nd Gen) Pure Edition and Moto G (2nd Gen) US GSM and Global GSM versions.

Following the launch of Android 5.0 Lollipop, Motorola that teamed up with Google for the Nexus 6 confirmed its plans of rolling out the update. A slew of its smartphones including Moto E, Moto G (LTE, 2013 and 2014), Moto X (2013 and 2014), Droid Maxx, Droid Ultra and Droid Mini will be receiving the Android 5.0 Lollipop update.

After announcing the next generation Moto G smartphone on Friday, Motorola simultaneously launched the same in the Indian market. The company has launched the dual-SIM variant of the new Moto G in the country. Motorola won't be selling the single-SIM variant in the Indian market. The smartphone comes in black and white colours and is priced at Rs. 12,999 for the 16GB variant, no 8GB version.

Motorola has planned to host an event on September 5 in India and it is evident that the firm will be launching those devices that will be announced at the September 4 event in Chicago in the country. In the meantime, one of the highly anticipated smartphones from the manufacturer – the sequel to the Moto G has been spotted in the import data tracking site Zauba by PriceBaba. As per these details, Motorola has imported over 70,000 units of the handset codenamed Moto XT1068 to India tipping the immediate availability of the device.

Motorola India has started sending out press invites to the Indian tech press media for attending an event on September 5th. This invite comes days after Motorola revealed its Chicago event date which is September 4th, where the company is expected to unveil the Moto X+1 and the Moto G2 smartphones, along with the Moto 360 smartwatch.
